The Pirate, Geoffery Armitage Ffolkes
Geoffery Armitage Ffolkes is a brazenly opinionated braggart who is foppish to the extreme, yet urbane and erudite---if not truly brilliant.  He is also a duelist, diplomat, spy, pirate and physician.  And he has another gift few humans have.  Two hundred years before the creation of the brilliant mind of Sherlock Holmes, Ffolkes is gifted with insight and 'prognostication.'  His sharp observations and the following inductive reasoning make Ffolkes a master at solving crimes.

If you want a precise portrait of Ffolkes' personality, think of the baggadocio of the French
playwrite Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac, (find a copy of the 1950 movie version with Mel Ferrer playing Cyrano--that is exactly the image I have in mind)  along with the character Falstaff from out of Shakespeare's Henry IV.  Because he is loud, obnoxious and genuinely narcisstic, he becomes a character you either fall in love with or absolutely despise.

Cyrano de Bergerac actually existed in the late 1600's.  A French soldier, playwright, and poet he did indeed have a rather oversized nose as depicted on stage and screen.  Ffolkes is like no other pirate with his shoulder length auburn hair and a perfectly groomed van dyke mustache and beard. He has unabashedly convinced himself he is the  '. . . most sublime of God's creations.'

The adventures takes place in Caribbean city of Port Royal, Jamaica in the late 1600's---the highth of piracy activity in the New World.  Port Royal was called, by many, as the Sodom and Gamorrah of the the Caribbean.

Pirates--murder--a genuine mystery--high adventure at its best; what's not to like?

Great News!!  Fireside Mysteries has published the novel and it's now available!  A steal at only $17.95
The final draft of the proposed book cover.  Again, the Carmona Brothers of Spain are working on this project.  Two brothers with remarkably vivid imaginations.
